Innovating Spaces Yuri Mushroom Administrative Building by Ponto de Apoio

Introduction

Located in Jardim Novo Mundo, Brazil, the Yuri Mushroom Administrative Building stands as a testament to innovation and functionality. Designed by Ponto de Apoio, this architectural marvel serves as the administrative hub for Yuri Cogumelos, a company revolutionizing mushroom cultivation using Japanese technology.

Bridging Tradition and Technology

Yuri Cogumelos has pioneered the growth of shiitake mushrooms in a controlled environment, departing from traditional methods involving tree logs to using sawdust and bran blocks. The administrative building, conceptualized in 2007 and constructed in 2019, was designed to accommodate the company’s growth, integrating office spaces and an auditorium for 140 people.

Adaptability in Design

As the company’s business expanded, the need for additional cold chambers arose. To optimize space, the ground floor of the administrative building was repurposed to house a large cold chamber, with administrative areas situated on the upper floors. The architectural design ingeniously incorporated the unevenness of the site, allowing the cold chamber to be partially concealed on the lower level.

Aesthetic Integration

The architectural vision seamlessly blends functionality with aesthetics. The main access to the administrative area features a glazed facade, while the opaque north-facing facade incorporates protective measures against the sun’s rays. Glass predominates on the administrative facades, offering ample natural light while ensuring energy efficiency.

Multifunctional Spaces

The interior layout of the offices caters to various activities, from regular office work to gastronomy events centered around shiitake mushrooms. The central space, serving as a lounge and meeting area, transforms into a foyer during auditorium events. This versatility underscores the building’s adaptability to diverse needs.

Construction Methodology

To meet strict deadlines, a steel structure and precast slab system was employed for the initial construction phase. Subsequently, a mezzanine was added using cast-in-place ribbed slab, ensuring acoustic isolation between the administrative area and the auditorium.

Conclusion

The Yuri Mushroom Administrative Building epitomizes innovative design and functional versatility. Ponto de Apoio’s architectural ingenuity, coupled with Yuri Cogumelos’ commitment to technological advancement, has resulted in a space that seamlessly integrates tradition with modernity, setting new standards in the realm of office buildings.
