Aligned with the objectives outlined in the ‘Barcelona dona molt de joc’ Local Plan, the project prioritizes the promotion of play and socializing opportunities for children. Rather than imposing strict regulations, the focus is on reimagining the space to incorporate playful elements seamlessly into its design. By integrating street furniture, paving, and vegetation strategically, the plaza becomes an extension of the school playground, fostering spontaneous and creative play among children.

Renaturalization and Permeability

Addressing the lack of permeability and greenery in the plaza, the project emphasizes the importance of re-naturalization and environmental sustainability. By introducing lush vegetation and permeable surfaces, the heat island effect is mitigated, creating shaded areas and enhancing biodiversity. A spiral path design encourages interaction with nature, leading visitors on a playful journey through the plaza while promoting natural drainage and infiltration of water.
