Redefining Workspaces Wet Beast Office by Studioninedots

Introduction

In the heart of Amsterdam-West, within the mixed-use building Westbeat, Studioninedots has unveiled the Wet Beast office landscape. This innovative workplace concept introduces three unique objects that foster experimentation, interaction, and spontaneity in the social fabric of a working environment.

A Glimpse into Wet Beast

Situated on the ground level of Westbeat, Wet Beast is not merely an office but a dynamic environment designed to ignite creativity and cultivate a sense of community. Studioninedots, commissioned by Gerimedica, envisioned an office concept that goes beyond conventional workspaces, offering users diverse opportunities for engagement and purpose.

Spatial Elements: Fostering Connection

The distinctive concrete arch constructions of Westbeat’s plinth set the stage for exciting spaces. Wet Beast incorporates three spatial elements that serve as connectors, bringing people together and injecting fresh energy into the workspace. This environment is meticulously crafted to inspire creativity and establish a shared sense of purpose.

Unconventional Furniture: The Heart of Wet Beast

Wet Beast introduces three unconventional pieces of furniture that disrupt the traditional order of tables and chairs. These objects, seemingly out of place in a typical work landscape, serve multiple functions such as providing shelter, seating, meeting spaces, and venues for various activities. The design is deliberately detached from the architecture, allowing for diverse interpretations through a rich palette of colors, shapes, and materials.

Ever-Evolving Functionality

Designed for adaptability, the elements of Wet Beast can be used temporarily or permanently, evolving continuously in function. The Escher-like play world encourages free interpretation and usage, with stairs, fixed elements, and passages inviting creativity. Large glass walls facilitate interaction between the sheltered core and the surrounding space.

Jungle Stairs and Town Hall: Connecting Spaces

The Jungle stairs, named for their organic shapes and integrated planting, serve as a connecting stairway between two levels. This multifunctional feature acts as a podium for presentations or a relaxing space. The Town Hall, made with friendly timber seating and light curtains, offers an intimate retreat, half hidden behind the curtains or seamlessly merging with the open space.

An Ever-Changing Concept

Wet Beast is a concept that defies a singular definition. It encourages diverse interpretations and adapts to the unique perspectives of each observer. Studioninedots has successfully created a new workplace paradigm that not only inspires users but challenges them to embrace a novel approach to work, fostering creativity and innovation.
