In the bustling heart of Madrid, Spain, Impepinable Studio undertook a remarkable renovation project known as “The Magic Wall Reform.” Completed in 2021, this project aimed to breathe new life into a lackluster 60 m² apartment, infusing it with color, functionality, and character.

Design Brief

The clients, Carlota and Alejandro, envisioned a vibrant and cheerful living space that reflected their personalities and lifestyle. With Carlota’s passion for fashion and Alejandro’s love for books and music, the challenge was to create a unified yet versatile environment that catered to their diverse needs.

Architectural Response

Impepinable Studio ingeniously tackled the apartment’s fragmented layout by introducing a central element: the magical wall. This multifunctional wall serves as a storage unit, workspace, kitchen, and even a hidden toilet cabin, seamlessly integrating various functions while maximizing space efficiency.

Spatial Organization

The apartment’s design revolves around the magical wall, which not only divides the space but also defines distinct functional zones. Elevated sleeping areas, adorned in tranquil blue hues, offer privacy and additional storage, while a large silver curtain provides flexibility in configuring the private area according to the occupants’ needs.

Color and Material Palette

To infuse the apartment with vitality and warmth, vibrant colors were introduced, complementing the green central element of the magical wall. Yellow accents in the form of new windows and bathroom tiles add a playful touch, while the interplay of light and shadow accentuates the space’s dynamism.
